I truly love doing newborn sessions! While each one is unique, I am always brought back to the feeling of remembering my own four children when they were such tiny babies. So new. So delicate. All of the tiny details that make newborns so incredibly precious. Like the long eyelashes against their rosy cheeks as they sleep. And the little wrinkles on their sweet hands and fingers. Don’t forget those absolutely adorable baby feet and toes!

10 Perfect Toes

Junior and his family were so wonderful to work with during this session! This is the couple’s first child, and you could just feel the joy and emotion in the room as they held and marveled at this special little boy. Mom and dad each gave this little boy a sweet tender kiss as he was swaddled like the little bundle of love he is. And look at that proud Poppa as he holds his son close!

Variety is the Spice of Life

I was so happy to have so many props and blankets available at my Houston area studio to capture Junior’s first portraits. The hats, bonnets, and knitted rompers added to the sweetness and dimension of the photos, but to me my favorites are those where he is only lightly draped in the mohair wrap and the ones where he is laid in the dark green cheesecloth because it brings so much focus on his newness. I loved that his umbilical cord is peeking out in some of the photos because it shows just how brand new Junior is in this world.

A few of them even caught a surprise little smile from this sweet little man! At first we wondered what he might be dreaming about, but later we found out he was giggling to himself about pooping on his mom’s new dress she had purchased for this session! Boys will be boys!!
